Review: I have walked past a bottle of The Muff Liquor Company Peated Irish Whiskey for the better part of a year during my near weekly trips to the QFC Liquor Store in my area. I always giggled about the name and sent a few pics to friends who encouraged me to pick up a bottle to see what a Peated Irish Whiskey would taste like.

One day while scrolling on Instagram I saw a clip of comedian Jimmy Carr talking about being a backer in the company along with other celebrities like Russel Crowe and Ed Sheeran. Seeing that Jimmy is one of my favorite comedians and I had a Whiskey themed White Elephant Gift Exchange coming up, I decided to pull the trigger with hopes that whoever one the bottle may give me a pour or two. Thankfully the winner of the bottle, Amanda, not only gave me a pour but left it behind requesting I not return the bottle to her until the review had been filmed.

The whiskey itself is very lightly heated (I do love an Islay whisky so your milage may vary) and taste rather young but has some traditionally Irish whiskey tasting notes. For its price it is worth trying if you are into Irish Whiskies or into smokey whiskies. It is also likely to be a great conversation starter sitting on your bar. Cheers!

My Rating: Sip it for a bit of smoke!

Ratings Scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
