Review: Hemingway Rye comes in a beautiful bottle with a story dating back hundreds of years. The whiskey inside that bottle is a blend of rye’s from both Indiana and Kentucky that are finished in “rum seasoned” Oloroso Sherry casks. I’m not sure what “rum seasoning” is but I have a feeling there is a bit of rum left in those barrels when the rye goes in based on the sweetness that is on the mid-palate and finish.

This rye is a lot of marketing but it is a delicious pour with a high price tag.

My Rating: Sip it if you like a sweeter rye.

Ratings Scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
