Review: This bottle of Knappogue Caste was gifted to me at a holiday party and I was surprised I had not heard of it as peated Irish whiskies are few and far between. This 12 year old expression is aged in ex-bourbon casks and has a wonderful oak presence. The peat presence is subtle but there and the sweetness is what hits me first on the nose and palate. If you like a hint of smoke in your whiskey, this may be the bottle for you.

My Rating: Sip it!

Ratings Scale:

-Spit: Don’t bother with this one. If a friend gives you a dram of it, are they even your friend?

-Shoot: Good enough to get you drunk

-Sip: Tasty enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.

-Stock: I’d recommend keeping a bottle on hand.
