-Review: The Lacamas Lake area near Camas Washington has numerous trails throughout its park. The Woodburn Falls trail allows for some solitude  from the often crowded main sections of trail in the park. A gps/phone is recommended as there are many connector trails and it is easy to get lost. Some of the trails are shared use with mountain bikes so it’s smart to keep at least one ear free while hiking.

This trail starts with an easy walk along the wide path around Lacamas lake to the dam where you will climb a short catwalk and get a view down stream of the now roaring creek. From there you will begin a brief climb and turn onto a trail that is narrower and will likely have fewer people. Eventually you will see the sign for Woodburn Falls and begin to switchback down the often muddy and narrow trail to the falls. If conditions allow, you can cross the creek and climb the even steeper trail on the far side of the creek which will climb a few hundred feet before you reconnect with a larger path. You will eventually come along the large creek and pass a handful of beautiful waterfalls on your left. Do not cross the bridge as you will continue to follow this trail until it reconnects near the dam and from there you will follow your path in until you are back at your car. There are restrooms and picnic facilities near the parking area. Cheers!

-Rating: Come back. This is a quick easy hike not far from home for me. Cheers!

Rating Guide:

-Gram it: Check out the pictures on Instagram because this one is not worth seeing in person

-Hike it: It’s short and sweet. Might as well knock it out in a day

-Bag it: Pack a bag and spend the night

-Bring a friend: Easy enough to bring a friend. Maybe this is where you can introduce someone to backpacking.

-Come Back: I will keep doing this trip it’s so good.
