-Review: Sleeping Beauty is a steep but short 3 mile round trip hike to incredible views of Mt Adams, Mt Rainier, Mt St. Helens and Mt. Hood. The hike begins with a climb that does not stop until you reach the peak. The first mile + is through is beautiful forest on a well maintained path. Eventually you round a corner and exit the forest to an incredible view of Mt. Adams. From there you climb a number of shale covered switchbacks before deciding which of the two summits to climb first. With any luck the skies will be clear and you can see at least 4 volcanos from the western summit. It will be windy at the top and there is not easily accessible water so please pack plenty of water and snacks. The hike back is much faster than the hike in and trekking poles are wise to help save your knees. The road to the trailhead is a bit rough but doable in a car unless it has recently rained. Cheers!
-Rating: Come Back!
Rating Guide:
-Gram it: Check out the pictures on Instagram because this one is not worth seeing in person
-Hike it: It’s short and sweet. Might as well knock it out in a day
-Bag it: Pack a bag and spend the night
-Bring a friend: Easy enough to bring a friend. Maybe this is where you can introduce someone to backpacking.
-Come Back: I will keep doing this trip it’s so good.
