-Review: Powell Butte offers over 10 miles of connected hiking trails. This 6 mile loop connects a number of different trails and is much easier with an AllTrails GPS guide. The wonderful thing about Powell Butte is there are trails from half a mile to miles and miles. The views change from open vistas where, on a clear day, you can see from Mt Jefferson to the south and Mt Rainier to the north. The Powell Butte Loop offers a nice variety of forest and view. Water is available at a drinking fountain at the trailhead but sources along the trails are unreliable at best so pack plenty of water and sun protection for the exposed areas.
If you are looking for a moderate level hike on the east side of Portland, this may be the place to come. There is no permit needed to park but ithe parking lot does fill up quickly on clear days. Cheers!
-Rating: Come Back!
Rating Guide:
-Gram it: Check out the pictures on Instagram because this one is not worth seeing in person
-Hike it: It’s short and sweet. Might as well knock it out in a day
-Bag it: Pack a bag and spend the night
-Bring a friend: Easy enough to bring a friend. Maybe this is where you can introduce someone to backpacking.
-Come Back: I will keep doing this trip it’s so good.
