-Review: I have very fond memories of Fort Borst’s Block House from when I was a child and my mom would stop for dinner at Cousin’s Restaurant and we would come across the street to Fort Borst Park and I would pretend to be an occupant of the Fort. Coming back decades later I discovered that the park had much more to offer than the Block House and picnic tables at the entrance of the park. The park features a few miles of connecting trails and offer demonstration gardens, a lake and replica buildings showing a glimpse into what life may have been like in the late 1800’s. The trail is a mix of paved, gravel and dirt and does have a lot of freeway noise since it is right next to I-5 in Centralia Washington. That also means it’s very easy to get to for a nice pit stop while you are going to and from Seattle and Portland.

-Rating: Come Back

Rating Guide:

-Gram it: Check out the pictures on Instagram because this one is not worth seeing in person

-Hike it: It’s short and sweet. Might as well knock it out in a day

-Bag it: Pack a bag and spend the night

-Bring a friend: Easy enough to bring a friend. Maybe this is where you can introduce someone to backpacking.

-Come Back: I will keep doing this trip it’s so good.
